7 suspected migrants killed in car crash in Albania

Police in Albania say seven suspected migrants were killed when the car they were riding in swerved off a road and plunged into a river.

The driver was also killed when the car crashed into the Vjosa River about 240 kilometers southeast of the capital Tirana.

Agence France Presse says the passengers had just crossed the border between Greece and Albania, quoting authorities.

Small groups from Arab and African nations escaping conflict and poverty enter Albania each year hoping to reach the European Union.
